Dita Von Teese
Last month, a couple of friends (who shall remain nameless to protect the not-so-innocent) and I went to see Dita Von Teese perform at a local club. We saw her signature act where, after removing her complicated clothing, she climbs into a gigantic martini glass. As a nice touch, she then bathes with an olive-shaped sponge that’s about the size of her head. With her 50’s “Bettie Page” film-noir often-corseted look, she’s become the cover girl for the current burlesque revival. She put on quite a show and I’m a sucker for her glamorous vintage look. She’s making another rare public appearance at Man Ray (which is a show in itself) this Friday. Send me an e-mail if you want to join me.

Thanks for the reply Matthew. Gosh it is such a long story. When I was 16, I was having some issues with my folks and I moved into (and I am leaving out last names) Brooke S's house for a few months. Brooke S and Heather (Dita) were good friends from Junior High School in Irvine, CA. Anyway, Brooke S, Heather (Dita) and I were the three musketeers. We spent alot of time together along with Margo and Dana. She lived with her dad, older and younger sisters, (initials only) S and J. Heather was quiet, shy but had a real sweet heart. She worked at a lingerie store in Costa Mesa, CA and she worked so hard. Brooke S and I would often drop her off on our way to the beach, usually picking her up on the way back home. She dated a friend of mine named Mark P(I have known him since kindergarten) for a few years. Her mom was a hairdresser. Really cool, funky little lady with alot of spark. I am in the process of getting out my school photos of dances and hangin out. It HAS been almost 13 years. One that I have is of all of us at Homecoming 87,. Brooke S, John B, Heather, Josh S, Zac G and Myself. We took a limo and got ready at Heather's dads house. I will scan and send when I find it. If you saw the picture you would be amazed. Her face is exactly the same. Except that she was blonde then but with the same ivory skin. I see alot of the same expression in some of her photos. I would love to get together with her sometime. Last I saw her in person was in Huntington Beach, CA at a club go-go dancing. That was probably in 92'. I would love to talk to her. When I saw her at the club I was so excited to see her (even with bright red hair). She was such a great friend to me at a difficult time in my life. I have ways to get in touch with her but I would never want her to think it was due to her position. She is soooo hot Mu fiancee and I met her twice once at the Chamber(a fetish club in Atlanta Ga) and the other time was this summer at Ozzfest. I don't believe that fake story about Dita stopping a fan from getting an autograph, because me and my friends got to meet Marilyn thanks to Dita taking us backstage. People LOVE to make up stuff. I knew Dita when she was starting at Captain Cream, she had a room mate who danced by the name Mina. Both names were taken from the Dracula book of which they were fans. She was over for dinner in my home many times and I was around her a good bit at the time and can only say that she was always very polite and well mannered, she was well liked by the other dancers at the club and exhibited none of the negative traits mentioned in earlier comments. Even back then she was creative with her stage act and it was obvious she would be able to translate that creativity into greater success. Those man coments and others about her looks are amazingly out of whack with reality. Really, the hate of the mean spirited women in this queue is pathetic. Of course the opposite is true of the kind and supportive women. Anyone here who JUDGES and CONDEMMS a perfectly professional, accomplished and celebrated woman like Dita is really at odds with themself. I really envy all the people who have met Dita in person! I really admire her, and unlike all the nasty judgmental people out there, I do not expect her to be perfect, yet I am capable of seeing how creative she is and how doing what she loves has made her successful. Elegance never really passes, and although Ms. Sweet's character, Dita, may metamorph into something different, Ms. Sweet has shown great shrewdness as a business woman. I think she'll do just fine at 40, or 50, or any age. How she's handled herself in business and the media shows a first rate mind and Midwestern practicality. Wow, I can't believe how many people on here are so hateful towards Dita. I have never met her, but I'm pretty sure she has no fan bigger than I, and the only reason I haven't seen her is because I'm pretty sure I have to be 18 to attend a show, so I'm just a few months away from it!! :) I've read so many things about Dita and how genuinely sweet she was to fans, and in her interviews I have not seen the tiniest hint that she would be "rude" or anything of the sort. He paid no attention to her, and once she wanted the divorce, she couldn't even get a hold of him by telephone! AND, he didn't even NOTICE when she moved out. So if anyone should be getting sympathy, it's Dita, and even then she doesn't ask for it. She has risen above all that and has done her best to get over it, instead of dwelling over how stupid he was and acted, and all the things he did to Humiliate her on purpose. At least she doesn't have to share any of her make up with him. Also, as for those comments saying that she wouldn't of have been famous if it weren't for HIM dating her and such, that is complete BULL. She has been in MANY films, and in Playboy (I'm not a fan of porn, but that's still can be considered an accomplishment), magazines, etc etc etc. before she was even WITH him. And, Marilyn was the one who even admitted in interviews that he STALKED her, and lied about wanting her in a video so that he could get the chance to go out with her. I've seen pictures of Dita without make up, and I must say, she is still VERY pretty. Look at Marilyn without makeup though...quite disgustinggggggg! And he doesn't even have a nice body whatsoever. SO, before any of you start with your stupid & lame comments, keep all this in mind. And if you doubt any of this, do your own research. As for ME, I absolutely LOVE Dita, and admire her for her strength, her performances, and look forward to getting to meet her one day.
